The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE

It's better known as MacKerricher Haul Road but at the Pudding Creek Trestle, is where we start.

It was really nice out this morning, 56 degrees, full sun and a light breeze.  The ocean and the waves were beautiful!  There was a thin marine haze in the air and we had lots of happy people!
Ron, with his keen eye for nature, had close sightings of a river otter and a weasel.

Present today:  Greg (Chico), Deb, Sam, Fran, Charlene, Ron, Joel, Zelda, Jan, Shari, Peter, Nancy T., Roger, Toni, Susan, Bruce, Nancy and Tom (18).  Well, maybe not "lots" of happy people but we did have a very nice group and we were happy!

I think 14 of us had breakfast at David's and as always, it was very good.

Next week's run/walk is still my favorite venue.  I like it because of the different options you have when beginning, either up, or down, or trail or road.  You do have to be careful though because of the loose rock on the road.  I can't afford to fall down again, too well known now at the hospital!  Next week is also good for walking your dog or riding your bike.

We're avoiding Big River lately because of the mosquitoes.  Too bad, because it works well for most of us.  Also avoiding Russian Gulch and Van Damme due to trail conditions, summer crowds, and dogs are not allowed.
