The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

CASPAR LOGGING ROADS

This morning, we all, I think, took JSF Road 500 for a cold but very nice walk or run.  It was 37 degrees under clear skies.  I think we all chose to go uphill for the start because many of our roads are getting pretty sloppy and at least we knew that Road 500 going east was a decent, but very rocky road.  Hopefully, we can add Van Damme and Russian Gulch State Parks back into the rotation before too long.

John saw this pretty rainbow earlier this week offshore of Hare Creek.

BIG RIVER

J. Loomis photo
We had a light rain here all night long and it persisted for our 8:00 a.m. run/walk.  Yet we still had 11 hardy runners and walkers.

Thank you John and Bruce for some photos that show how grey the morning was, and for this next one that shows that Spring is just around the corner..

It is forecasted to be a very wet week.  I'll wait to see what happens and then come up with some kind of a list for upcoming run/walks.  Let me know if there's one you are particularly fond of.

NOYO HEADLANDS PARK - SOUTH

A nice morning today, 40, with mostly blue skies and a beautiful ocean.  We ran and walked around Noyo Bay and to the points on each side of it.

Thanks to John for today's photos.  We were wondering where John was this morning.  He went to the North Trail instead of the South.  He's not the only one to have done this.  All these "Noyo Headlands" and Pomo Bluff names do confuse our starting points.

When they connect the two halves of our new Coastal Trail, we will come up with some new names for the starting points.  I think it will be a great trail once it is all connected.  That is, if they can keep the ocean from eating away any more of it.

Present today:  Suzanne, Henry, Michele (been with us once or twice before), Shari, Peter, Tom T., Geri, Neil, Joe, Susan, Bruce, Jan, Bob, Charlene, Ron, Nancy T., Roger, John,  Nancy and Tom (20).

Lastly, don't forget your Valentine this week.

NOYO HEADLANDS PARK - NORTH

John once again has supplied the photos for today's blog.  Thanks, John.  First up, taken from his yard, a reminder that sunnier and drier days are just ahead.

We ran and walked the north half of the Noyo Headlands Trail today, plus a bit of the Haul Road.  Read in this week's Advocate News, that the two halves of the Coastal Trail will get connected and opened by this October, great news!

Pudding Creek Trestle, J. Loomis photo
It was cloudy, breezy and I think 53 degrees, kind of had to hold the hat on today.

Once we got going this morning, it was still breezy, but a pretty morning to be out.  The ocean was a dark steel grey and there were patches of blue trying to break through the clouds.  After the run/walk, 12 of us had a nice breakfast at David's.
