The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE

Not too often, can I say, it was not a good morning.  You're probably tired of reading me saying that it was a great morning for any activity.  Well, today was not a good morning.  I don't think it was as bad as some of the climatologists predicted, we didn't need water wings or skim boards, but it was raining and blowing pretty good.  Most Fog Dodgers stayed home or got out of town, but Bob, Nancy and Tom were there (3)!

Addendum:  Now, just after posting the blog, Bruce writes that he and Otis were the only ones there this morning.  My apology, my eyesight ain't what it used to be.  So, thanks Bruce for coming out on such a morning and now that makes 4!

This morning, almost everyone went to Cafe One for breakfast.  The overnight rains had collapsed their outdoor dining tent so indoor dining was opened up, I think for the first time since Covid began.

The picture above of the Pudding Creek Trestle was taken by John and a better day, thanks, John.

Congratulations in order for Bob and Scott.  Yesterday, Bob got First Place in the 5K Race and Scott got First Place in the 10K Race.  Good job!

Since most of the group did not come out this morning, let's go to Pudding Creek Trestle again next week!  I hope you have a great week.

SUNDAY, OCT. 31ST @ 8:OO A.M., GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE,  you can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find the location.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN/WALK @ 7:30 A.M.:  Beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.

BIG RIVER LOGGING ROAD

We returned to Big River, after staying away all summer to avoid the mosquitoes.  And our friends Greg and Keith returned from Chico for a visit.  The road was in good shape, no mosquitoes and it was a great morning.

Also present: Fran, Jean, Charlene, Bob, Deb, Sam, Joe, Gay, Mark, Nancy and Tom (13).

I'm writing this on Wednesday and there is a lot of rain or showers forecast over the next week.  I hope the weather is good enough to bring you out for a walk or run on the MacKerricher Haul Road next Sunday.  It's been 3 months since we've started from Pudding Creek Trestle, so let's give that a try.

SUNDAY, OCT. 24TH @ 8:OO A.M., GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE,  you can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find the location.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN/WALK @ 7:30 A.M.:  Beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.

RUSSIAN GULCH

I've been doing the moving and downsizing rat race all week and I appreciate Sam telling me that I hadn't posted a blog since our last get together at Russian Gulch.  It's been enough days since then, that if I tried to list the names of all that were there, I would likely leave someone off.  You know what happens then?  Either I or they get in trouble.  Not so bad when it's me but when the person I omitted gets in trouble from their spouse that thought they had gone to Fog Dodgers finds out they weren't there, it's bad.  Just kidding, of course.  Anyway, I wanted to say that the weather has cooled off enough, that I don't think the mosquitoes will be a problem, so next week,

SUNDAY, OCT. 17TH @ 8:OO A.M., GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, BIG RIVER,  you can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find the location.

POMO BLUFFS PARK

It was another nice morning, sunny, calm and about 53 degrees.  John wasn't with us today, so I'm using a couple of old photos that he submitted.  And above, is Sam's drawing of our Fog Dodger logo, still going after 23 years!

Next week, we'll go to Russian Gulch State Park.   At Russian Gulch, there are options.  You can go down the big hill, skip the big hill and take in the headlands, or go north and check out the nearby subdivisions.  It works for all, runners, bikers, walkers and dogs.
