The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

CASPAR LOGGING ROAD

That worked out very well.  By returning to the Caspar Logging Road after a year's absence, we avoided the holiday "crowds" and stayed out of the wind.  The timber harvest that was planned for last year evidently has been postponed or canceled.  We had a good walk!

Present today: Toni, Joe, Diana, Jeff, Shari, Peter, Deb, Sam, Gay, Mark, Kim, Doug, Jean, Nancy and Tom (15).

Several wanted to go to St. Anthony's Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, 6/12, so next week we will keep it in the Fort Bragg area, Glass Beach area.  Right now, there is rain forecast for next Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully we don't get rained on.

NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 5th, @ 8:OO A.M,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, COASTAL TRAIL - NORTH (Glass Beach Parking lot).  You can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find directions to the location.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN/WALK @ 7:30 A.M.:  Beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.

POMO BLUFFS PARK

Kind of difficult to write this post, I was just barely there.  Nancy and I bailed early, due to various aches and pains.  We did walk for a moment, long enough to exchange doctor's names and hear of everyone else's aches and pains.  Might have to change the name of our group??

John was missing today, so I've used a couple of older photos from the blog that he supplied.  It just seems that the blog needs a photo or two.

Present today:  Jean, Fran, Charlene, Shari, Toni, Joe, Pat, Leon, Nancy and Tom (10).

We haven't been on the Caspar Logging Road since July 4th of last year.  It was closed due to planned logging, so I think that next week we'll see what's going on there.  If it is blocked, we can develop a plan from that point.  There are skid trails and back roads around there and something will work out.  It also will be Memorial Day weekend and this will keep us away from the crowds.

SUNDAY, MAY 29th, @ 8:OO A.M,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, CASPAR LOGGING ROAD.  You can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find directions to the location.

COASTAL TRAIL - MIDDLE

It was very foggy this morning.  Fortunately, there was little wind and it was a relatively warm 52 degrees. Those conditions made for good walking weather but lack of sun kind of kept all the wildflowers closed up.

Since it was so foggy this morning, John took to the alleys for some pictures.   I think he did well.  He also is quite the gardener and his spinach looks pretty good!

BIG RIVER LOGGING ROAD

Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms!  We had a good walk this morning, getting started just after a heavy downpour.  It was a little muddy in spots but no so much as to really mess up your shoes.

WARD AVENUE

It was a beautiful morning!  We met at Ward Avenue and walked to the south, out to Laguna Point and back.  There was just a slight breeze, it was sunny and the ocean was beautiful.

Thanks to John for today's photos.  He drove down to San Francisco on Friday on took a couple of these along the way, a couple of the others taken locally.

Next Sunday is Mother's Day.  The long range weather forecast predicts it to be a nice day but very windy.  So, to stay away from the crowds and out of the wind, I'm choosing to meet at Big River.  Soon, it will warm up enough that the mosquitoes will be a nuisance, but I think it will still be okay next week.
