The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

Dodger Clan at Van Damme

Fern Canyon always a great place to run and walk no matter the weather. With it's abundance of beauty and a soft dirt trail to cushion the landing of striding feet.

Runners and walkers were rewarded along the trail surrounded with lush green foliage, the sound of chirping sparrows and water babbling in the stream, and ornate metal fish sculptures guarding the path.

The weather was an ideal 53 degrees with a sun filled clear blue sky.

The turnout was small in numbers but big on enthusiasm.

Present were Fran, Charlene, Cindy, Joe, Toni, John, and Bob.

Thank you John Loomis for providing all the fantastic photos.

Was today one of the longest of the year? Trick question. Each day is 24 hours long.

Today will be one with the most daylight hours.

This is your day Dads, get out there and make the most of it!

MENDOCINO HEADLANDS and town

I have no idea why the blog looks completely different.  It surprised me when I opened it up to post today's entry.  Our Fog Dodger blog was created by a Fog Dodger that has moved away.  I don't know how to set up blogger or make template changes, so we'll just see what happens here.  I guess it's still a way to announce where to meet each week.  If we have any tech savvy Fog Dodgers out there, please help.

This morning brought a little more rain than was forecast but still, we had a nice small group that walked and enjoyed the warm soaking rain.
Thanks to John, for all of today's Mendocino photos.  Above is the Temple of Kwan Tai.

Present today: Kim, Doug, Charlene, Cindy, Joe, John, Nancy and Tom (8).

We had hoped to return to the Whitesboro Grange Pancake Breakfast next Sunday but there has not been a definite reopening message on their Facebook page and due to the distance involved, I think we'll wait until July.

NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 19th, @ 8:OO A.M,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, VAN DAMME STATE PARK.   You can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find directions to the location.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN/WALK @ 7:30 A.M.:  Beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.

COASTAL TRAIL - NORTH

Usually, I copy and paste John's photos to the blog.  This morning, along with his photos, he sent the following words:

Hi Tom,
A nice walk in the foggy misty morning.
Wonderful rain we also have had.
I took a few pictures this morning.
The Fog Dodger Picture has one with Ron Le Valley, in it along with other past members of
the Fog Dodgers.  All wonderful people and Ron deserves a lot of appreciation for his
work with wildlife, photography and his smile.  Charlene gets a big hug from the group.
We do miss Ron!
John
I wanted to post a picture of the Botanical Gardens in Torrance.
They do have such a nice garden to visit.

Present today:  Charlene, Cindy, Bob, John, Diana, Jeff, Deb, Sam, Gay, Mark, Nancy and Tom (12).

We planned next week's walk/run/bike with breakfast in mind.  On the second Sunday each month, the Knights of Columbus have a pancake breakfast at St. Anthony's church in Mendocino.  It is very good.  So, if you're interested:

NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 12th, @ 8:OO A.M,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, MENDOCINO HEADLANDS.   You can always click on the "Our Routes" button at the top of the page to find directions to the location.
