The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

CASPAR LOGGING ROADS

I think we all had a good run, walk or bike ride this morning.  We met at the "Caspar Scales" (the scales are now gone), it was about 53 degrees, overcast and calm.  Perfect conditions for whatever you were wanting to do.

Not a local picture but one that I really like.  It's taken by Alice Cahill and was shared on Facebook.  Morro Bay is a place Nancy and I have always loved.  This is a great shot of Comet Neowise.

Several times in the past we started at Lake Cleone.  It's a good venue, with a parking lot and you can start off in several directions.  Thanks to Fran for the suggestion, next week we will start there again.  Lake Cleone is not in "Our Routes" above, but I think everyone knows where it is.  COVID-19 restrictions are starting to tighten up again, so if State Parks closes the road, go to Ward Ave. (that one is in "Our Routes" above).

Thanks, John, for today's photos.

NEXT SUNDAY, AUGUST 2ND @ 8:00 A.M.:  GROUP RUN/WALK/ BIKE,  LAKE CLEONE, beginning at the parking lot.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN/WALK @ 7:00 A.M.:  Beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station on Tuesdays and near Harvest at Mendocion on Thursdays.

COASTAL TRAIL - SOUTH

View looking south across Noyo Bay

You hear that?

It was a beautiful morning on the Fort Bragg Headlands.  We ran, walked and biked, beginning on the south end of the Coastal Trail.  I was on a bike, so I'm not sure if anyone walked across the Noyo Bridge or not, but it would have been a good morning for doing so.  There were quite a few boats out trolling for salmon and the ocean was beautiful.

Getting ready

Present this morning: Pat, Leon, Nancy T., Cheryl N., Neil, Charlene, Ron, Bob, John,
Scott, Shari, Fran, Nancy and Tom (14).

Thanks again to John, he kind of keeps this blog pretty.  Here's some nice Dahlia pictures   from his garden.

And a picture of a few Fog Dodgers getting ready.

I wish that I could pick Big River or Little River or some other venue but with mosquitoes, trail erosion and possible State Park closures, we really only have Caspar and Noyo.  If somebody can come up with a better place to meet, I would sure like to hear about it.  Remember though, you've got keep everyone happy, runners, walkers and bike riders.  With that said,

NEXT SUNDAY, JULY 26TH, 8:00 A.M.,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, CASPAR LOGGING ROADS

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN, BIKE, AND WALK @ 7:00 A.M.,   for now, we're starting behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station and using the Coastal Trail - Middle access on Tuesdays.  On Thursdays, we are starting at Harvest Market at Mendosa's, Mendocino.

COASTAL TRAIL - MIDDLE

John supplied us with more nice photos for the day and if you read his notes below and look at the photo of his plum tree, I think I know where you could beg a plum or two.  Thanks, John.

Nice running/walking/biking day.
I send pictures from today.
Yes, I took another of the Deer in a field nearby.
Nice buck, only out for a little while in the early morning.
Hope you all had a nice ride.
Oh, if anyone wants plums, my 3 plum trees are overloaded.

For Sunday the 19th, let's meet at the South end of the Coastal Trail, turn off at Taco Bell.  That way, anyone missing our crossing the Noyo Bridge can have that opportunity.  The weather has been beautiful and I'm not sure how long our public places will remain open, so, I hope to see you there!

NEXT SUNDAY, JULY 19TH, 8:00 A.M.,  GROUP RUN, WALK AND BIKE, COASTAL TRAIL - SOUTH (Taco Bell).

It's the 4th of July weekend and John saw this fireworks display.  John also supplied all of the other photos for today's blog, thank you, John.

It was a very pretty morning and we had a nice turnout.  Present were: Nancy B., Fran, Cheryl N., Neil, Shari, Peter (welcome back!), Susan, Bruce, Joe, Scott, Deb, Sam, Charlene, Ron, Bob, John, Nancy and Tom (18).

I rode my bike today and had another mechanical
failure.  This time, it was a broken chain.  Thanks
to Scott and Bob for getting me going again.
And thanks to those that waited for us late riders
to make sure that all was well.
From Howard Creek, just north of Westport

I'm going to pick the Coastal Trail again next week, starting behind the Fire Station.  It just
works well, giving you several directions in which to start.  Soon, we'll try to incorporate some of our other venues,  if the COVID restrictions stay lifted.

Their antlers are growing fast at this time of the year.
