We tried a less familiar location for our Sunday hike at Eric's request. We walked the Spring Ranch trail . This is a pretty good time of year for this trail which is often muddy during the rainy season. The trail is narrow and the grasses are over five feet tall in places but Fogdodgers enjoyed the hike. I have not heard of any reports of ticks but I guess we will get more info next Sunday. It being Bastille Day, Sam and Deb arrived in Sam's Citroen Deux Chevaux. Hikers were Diana, Jeff, Deb, Sam, Eric, Mark and friend, Hannah-Leigh, Bob (running),Nancy, Tom, Joe, Beth, Bob, Pat, and Leon in attendance.
Afterwards many of us went to St Anthony's for the pancake breakfast, where we met Jean and Fran after their release from police custody. They had hiked the Mendocino headlands and had been caught peering into various houses around town.
After breakfast Sam and Joe went to the Ledford House in Sam's Deux Chevaux for their Quatorze Juillet celebration, or Bastille Day as we call it. Tony, the maitre d' of the Ledford House, had Sam park the 2CV right in front of the front door, as it was the perfect mascot for the event. There were certainly some excellent petanque contenders in the tournament.
