The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

Ten Mile River Logging Road

Remember how stormy it was last night? Well, not this morning! It was a balmy 54F, a bit overcast and humid, but an otherwise clear morning with only a gentle breeze. We welcomed Patti back to the group now that she is living and working here again.

Also making the trek up north was Roger, Nancy, Mark, Gay, Geri, Scott, Maddelyn, Melissa and Johnny (10). I heard Roger say that the Osprey are back on the tree-top nest, but Melissa, Patti and I took a sharp left at the bottom of the hill before that and went running along Ten Mile beach. There's no dogs allowed on that beach, but the rest of you should try a variation on that route (go straight just BEFORE going down the hill), as the beach is quite nice and the up hill coming back is much more civil.

Tom and Nancy appear to be the inspiration for going to breakfast, so when they aren't here we also seem to break off and go our separate ways.

NEXT SUNDAY, DATE @ 8 AM: Looks like this should be our last big rain system before "summer" finally arrives. Yay! See you all at MacKerricher Haul Road next Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to running along the bluffs.

EVERY TUESDAY @ 7 AM: RUSSIAN GULCH STATE PARK, beginning on Point Cabrillo Drive, 1/10 of a mile north of its south end.

EVERY THURSDAY @ 7 AM: VAN DAMME STATE PARK, beginning at the beach.

Thank you, Johnny, for filling in, though you are my equal in this group and duty.

I had to say, that we (John L., Nancy and me) had a very successful Wine Country Senior Games 5K today. This is a qualifying race for the Senior Olympics. John got a age group second place. I was first in my age group and Nancy was the overall and age group female champion!!!

It doesn't seem right that Nancy and I would be the "breakfast inspiration" in this group but let's go with it. Nancy and I are anxious to go out for breakfast next Sunday and we hope that many of you can join us!! It will be great!
