The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

RUSSIAN GULCH

Russian Gulch, on a better day
Give Joe, Nancy and Tom an extra star for showing up on this morning.  Joe thought the stormy ocean was very beautiful.  Nancy and Tom enjoyed both the ocean and the turkeys and deer.

J. Loomis photo, also a better day
The deer still have their antlers but probably not for much longer.  John took these photos around Russian Gulch on other days.  Thanks John, for sending them.

The reason we all earned an extra star today was because it really was a day meant to be spent reading the paper in bed or sitting by the fire watching a movie.  Temperature was 49, actually good for walking or running.  The rain held fairly steady and with the southerly wind, found it's way through the seams and down the necklines or our raingear and wicked up our pant legs.

I think a few Fog Dodgers are out with the flu bug and with the rainy forecast, it's no wonder there were only three of us.  But, we did it!  We met Toni at David's for breakfast afterwards.  It was slow at David's also and we therefore had nice visits to our table by Kira and four of the waitresses; Gabby, Gizellah, Margaret and Lacy.

Russian Gulch bridge, another pretty morning

Next weeks run/walk will be on the beautiful Coastal Trail - South, and hopefully with better weather.
