The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

A Beautiful Morning at Van Damme

On this glorious, crisp (around 45°), sunny morning we stood around at Van Damme car park, waiting to start.  Panic! Where's our leader?  No Tom, no Johnny.  However Tom, no need to worry, as with great fortitude we girded our loins and set off promptly at 8.00am.  In fact, we were so resolute to cross the highway, we nearly collided with a passing car.

There were 16 of us that had a really enjoyable walk - I guess 15, as John L. was the only runner. Lots of talking, debating and putting the world to rights. The 16 were - John L., Mark & Gay, Jim & Cindy, Suzi, Neil, Pat, Rick & Nancy,, Dorothy, Fran, Roger & Nancy, Toni and Peter.  Someone else wrote down the list of names (thanks) and included Johnny.  However, As I didn't see Johnny, I haven't included him.  So Johnny, if you were there - I'm sorry!

I guess John's sweeping success at the County Fair in Boonville put him in an "artsy" mood.  He kindly provided this photo for today's blog.

After the walk, 5 of us had breakfast at Bayview in Mendocino

NEXT SUNDAY, Sept 25th @ 8:00 A.M.: CASPAR LOGGING ROAD (see "Our Routes" above)

I was there! A moment late, and in walking garb to go to the Fair right after. There were many witnesses, by the way. Yes, John L. was the only runner, again. I'll change that next week.

Anyway, Gay did even better than we/she thought. Her Chocolate Cherry Cookies placed 1st, her Chocolate Zucchini Bundt Cake placed 1st, her Wild Blackberry Jam got an Honorable Mention, Her Cherry Chutney placed 1st, and her Apple Butter placed 1st AND got Best of Division. Yeah!!!!
