The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

CASPAR LOGGING ROAD

I good sized post Christmas crowd assembled for our walk at CASPAR LOGGING ROAD. We lucked out with the weather after all the rain we've been having (Toni and I just got our internet back this Monday). Hiking were Eric, John, Kelly, Nancy, Tom, Lynne, Deb, Sam, Eve, Gary, Sky, Shari, Fran, Doug, Kim, Joe, Mark, and Zelda.

Several went to the Laurel Deli for breakfast.

COASTAL TRAIL SOUTH (TACO BELL)

The harsh weather, high winds and intense bursts of rain, probably accounts for the low turnout this time at COASTAL TRAIL – SOUTH. Only Eric, Deb, Sam, Nancy, Tom, and Joe showed up. We decided not to walk and instead all headed over to the Homestyle Cafe for breakfast at their round table in the back corner (it was not too crowded as you might imagine).

Tom here, with a late edit: I found out that Bob C. arrived at our starting point just as the six of  us were departing for the Homestyle Cafe.  He had run from home.  So, he then headed back into the weather that we had just wimped out on, ran back home, thereby having completed a four mile run.  Good job, Bob!

Though John did not show, he did send some nice pictures:

PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE

At 8:00 this morning we started walking north from the Pudding Creek Trestle.  It was 46 degrees, cloudy and with just a slight breeze.  We had a potluck breakfast to look forward to after the walk.  I guess that I was distracted, or I'll use that as an excuse, but I'm not sure whether Beth and Bob were present.  They had said they were coming but I can't remember seeing them.  I'm sorry Beth and Bob.

Otherwise, counting a few that could only make breakfast, I think that we had 23 people:  Eve, Gary, Charlene, Barbara, Kim, Doug, John, Tracy, Kelly, Shari, Peter, Diana, Jeff, Jean, Fran, Deb, Sam, Mark, Eric, Chris, Dave, Nancy and Tom.

Thanks John, for all of your photographic contributions.

I had told Nancy that there was no way that we could host a Potluck Breakfast in this small bungalow house.  Our previous house was considerably larger.  She insisted that we could and I admit now that she was correct.  Nancy was right and I was wrong.  Thank you Sweetie.  Everyone seemed very happy and I thank all for the delicious dishes.  It was a good day.

Great Blue Heron (mad at us because we probably scared underground the gopher he was staking out)

Man of many talents, John, I think, sculpted this hand and ice cream.  It looks like mine!

"Blogger" has a mind of it's own and I can't control where it decides to place a photo or what size font to use.  If I've forgotten to include your name, well, I accept the blame for that and I'm sorry.

WARD AVENUE

Today we did our usual hike at WARD AVENUE. It was a beautiful morning, sunny and crisp. Hiking were Eric, Diana, Jeff, Mark, John, Joe, Charlene, Eve, Gary, Kim, Doug, Shari, and a new fogdodger, Lynne. And Fran and Jean came along a little bit late.

Afterwards most went to Denny's while a few went to the Noyo Harbor Inn.
