The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

MacKERRICHER STATE PARK (Haul Road)

Contrary to popular belief, we do get some spectacular, sunny, calm, 70 degree weekends on the coast.  This is one of them.  It was about 55 degrees when we started this morning on the MacKerricher Haul Road.  John's pictures below show how pretty the day was.

It was nice to have Erin back again, and now when Erin visits, we also get Sarah back.  It's a nice lowering of our average age and it's great to see runners amongst us!

Also present today: Shari, Jean, Charlene, John, Mark, Sky, Diana and Jeff (seen above with Cole), Zelda, Nancy and Tom (13).

COASTAL TRAIL – SOUTH

A large group showed up for our hike at COASTAL TRAIL – SOUTH (Taco Bell). However we were largely unsuccessful in dodging the fog, which was pretty thick. This did make for a cool walk. Hiking were Diana, Jeff, Nancy, Tom, Mark, Joe, Eric, John, Kelly, Deb, Sam, Bob, Charlene, Zelda, Fran, Jean, Pat, who brought along Ravi. Leon joined alter for breakfast. Along the way we met Mary Gibson, who may join our group.

The contingent at Denny's numbered 12 I think.

Anybody want a Fogdodgers T shirt or a sweat shirt?

I thought I would add this notice from Deb and Sam to the blog for those who missed last Sunday's walk.

All Fog Dodgers

There has been interest in getting some new T shirts and sweatshirts with the famous Fog Dodger logo of runners legs tripping along in the fog.

I met a printer in Fortuna this weekend and spoke with her about doing a small order with her company Lotus Mountain Printing. They will charge us a $35. set up fee and then will print as many garments as we would like. We can divide the set up fee among all the garments.

In the past we printed Navy on Heather Gray garments with a small logo in the front and a larger logo on the back. We could do the same or something else this time.

If you would like to possibly buy a/some garments please let me know and I will get a quote from her. There is no commitment until we all agree on what we want.

Please give me the following:

Your name:

Your email:

What kind of garment(s) you would like (Short sleeved T shirt, Long sleeved T shirt, zip up sweatshirt, pull over hoodie, maybe something else I can’t think of):

The quantity of each garment that you select:

What sizes you would like:

What colors you would prefer:

Give me any other information you think might be useful (favorite brands, secondary choices, whatever):

We (all or a few of us) will then try to get an order together, get a quote, find out ways we could save money, etc. and proceed from there,

This is August 1. If you can get the information to me by September 30, that should give everyone enough time. You can write me an email at debelufson@gmail.com or you can write down the information and give it to me on a Sunday, if I’m not there, you can give it to Tom. He is trustworthy. If you are not interested in anything, please let me know that as well and then I will know you’ve been contacted and not left out.

Thanks, Deb

WARD AVENUE

We lucked out with the weather today at WARD AVENUE. A sunny morning and relatively cool air made for a pleasant walk. Hiking were Sky and his brother, Bill, Diana, Jeff, Kim, Doug, and Bowie, Nancy, Tom, Deb, Sam, Eric, Joe, John, and Pat, with Leon joining us after the walk.

Afterwards approximately nine of us went to Denny's while Joe waited until ten so he could attend the french toast breakfast at the Noyo Center's field station.
