The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

BEACHCOMBER MOTEL

A smallish group of us hiked north from the parking lot just north of the BEACHCOMBER MOTEL The haul road had recently received a fresh coat of sealant making the surface very smooth. In attendance were John, Diana, Jeff, Kim, Doug, Bowie, Eric, Sky, Fran, Joe, Tom, and Nancy, who started out running south and later caught up to us.

Afterwards seven of us went to Denny's for their bargain breakfast with several of us ordering the senior salmon. The restaurant was surprisingly uncrowded for a holiday weekend.

COASTAL TRAIL – MIDDLE

We met today behind the firehouse in Fort Bragg to hike COASTAL TRAIL – MIDDLE. Boy, the road into the parking lot, West Alder Street, needs repair! Anyway we hiked out to the coastal trail and then north up to the Glass Beach parking lot and a bit further. In attendance were Shari, John, Eric, Kim, Doug, Bowie, Deb, Sam,Sky, Mark, Jean, Joe, Beth, and Bob.

Afterwards five of us went to the Home Style for breakfast though we had to wait a while to be seated as the place was very popular with many of the motorcycle riders in town for a big get together.

MENDOCINO HEADLANDS

Since St Anthony's was serving breakfast we walked the MENDOCINO HEADLANDS this last Sunday. Winds were light and the weather was cool. Hiking were Nancy and Tom and their daughter, Shannon, Sara, Deb & Sam, back from the southwest, Sky, Eric, Shari, Jean, Joe, Fran, Beth, and Bob (14).

At least eight of us went to breakfast at St Anthony's. For Mother's Day they had omelettes as one of the breakfast choices. Though they had run out of mushrooms by the time we got there, there was spinach and cheddar-style cheese.

Even though John did not hike with us he did send some photos:

VAN DAMME

A medium size group showed up at VAN DAMME for Sunday's hike. In attendance were Nancy & Tom (who turned around early so they could attend the run in Booneville), John, Barbara, Sky, Charlene, Jean, and Joe. The creek is flowing well. The first part of the road is now in good shape, but further back in serious road work is needed. I don't think any of us went out to breakfast.
