The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

Freedom Day, Noyo Headlands Park - South

Freedom Day?  Ask Ron.  Thank you, John, for all of today's photos.  They depict accurately what the day and the season is like.  We had a drizzle at the beginning, which turned into, what my brother from Los Angeles would call a downpour (really just a heavy drizzle), and then kind of lightened up near the end, so that we could dry out.

Next Sunday at 10:00 a.m. is the Annual Boontling Classic 5K Race and Fun Walk.  If you haven't done this before, it is a great small town event.  Almost everyone wins some sort of raffle prize and the race/walk course is on the old highway and very nice.  Some of us will cut our run short next Sunday in Mendocino and head to Boonville for the 10:00 a.m. start.

Sunday, May 6th, Mendocino, around the Headlands and township
Sunday, May 13th, Caspar Logging Roads
Sunday, May 20th, Russian Gulch State Park
Sunday, May 27th, Van Damme State Park

The mosquitoes are really bad at Big River, eliminating that venue for a few months.  I think that we'll be using the Noyo Headlands Park a lot.  Hopefully, the central access, near Oak St., I think, will open before long.  When that happens, you could choose to go in either direction and then maybe it wouldn't become boring.  Yeah, it could happen.  I've already heard concern over doing it too often.

NEXT SUNDAY, MAY 6TH, 8:00 A.M., GROUP RUN AND WALK, MENDOCINO, beginning at the Heeser Drive restrooms.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN @ 7:00 A.M.: Big River Logging Road on Tuesday and Heeser Drive/Mendocino on Thursday
