What the morning looked like, J. Loomis photo |
It happened! Finally! We were able to run, walk and check out the now completed, or at least connected, two halves of the Noyo Headlands Coastal Trail. I know that there are a few improvements yet to be installed but the "bare bones" of the thing seem really great!
It was 51 degrees, with a lttle bit of fog and mist but no wind, and it seemed about perfect for a morning run or walk. We started at the Pudding Creek Trestle, which is "Mile 0" is you're southbound and discovered that the middle section of the trail, which had been closed, began at Mile 1 1/4. It went around the now drained Mill Pond, almost up to the highway at Oak St., and then back west to the Water Treatment Plant, which was at about Mile 2. At that point, we were back on the South half, which we've done quite a few times. The Trail looks great and will be a real resource for the community. We will run and walk there often.
