The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

POMO BLUFFS PARK - NOYO BAY

We were last at this venue on March 20th.  Oh, how different it was today.  Last time, a heavy rain and very strong headwinds, today, sunny, calm and 53 degrees.  It was a beautiful morning!  There was a thin and very low, ocean-hugging fog that gave the feel and smell of being near the ocean.

Sunrise on Noyo Bay, John was there earlier than most, thanks  John.
Present today:  Keith, Nancy T., Roger, Cheryl N., Neil, John, Charlene, Ron, Jeff, Susan, Toni, Joe, Mary, Shari, Peter, Orah, Steve, Greg, Nancy and Tom (20).

This guy (?) was there the entire time.  The day was just that nice!
I was on light duty today.  Sure wish that I could have run.  It was nice though, to be loafing and sightseeing.  I read the interpretive signs and enjoyed the park's trails.  It is such a pretty place now, whereas in the past, it was a place the kids went mudding in their 4 X 4's.

John left early and went to Boonville and ran the Boontling Classic 5K.  He did very well and it was very hot!  Congratulations John!

I've been asked to mention an event coming up on Saturday, June 4th, one day only.  I'll get more information on it later but I do know for sure, that the dead and beached blue whale from a couple of years ago, is now a cleaned and reassembled skeleton and will be on display out on the Noyo Headlands Park - South Trail.  I think we'll schedule our run/walk there on Sunday the 5th but to see the whale skeleton, you'll have to go out there on Saturday the 4th.  This should be one impressive skeleton!
