The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

COVID 19, 4

Fort Bragg Landing, Otsuchi Point in distance
The photo above shows what the morning was like, grey, calm, 54 and perfect for a run or walk.  We're concluding another week of Shelter-In-Place due to Covid 19 or Coronavirus.  Running and walking for exercise is allowed though and we are fortunate to have the Coastal Trail.

John has sent me a couple of interesting photos, comparing Laurel Street on a normal day and Laurel Street with all businesses closed because of Covid 19.

Out for a walk or run this morning were:  Charlene, Ron, John, Shari, Neil, Nancy and Tom (7).
Blooming lilac, J. Loomis
Ahh, but there were others.  Other Fog Dodgers walking from their homes were Fran, Toni and Joe (10).  I received these photos after posting, and it's too difficult to rearrange things with "Blogger" so I'm just going to stick them all in here.  Thanks everyone!

Fran said, "There’s a wee bit of Ireland just south of Little Lake, near my house…with some wildlife not native to the Emerald Isle.
Hello to all my Fog Dodger buddies.

And from Toni and Joe, walking from home:

At least six of us (maybe more?) helped support David's Restaurant by picking up our take-out breakfasts.  Kira is most thankful.

NEXT SUNDAY, 4/26,  On Thursday the 16th, the Mid-week Fog Dodgers used the recently opened (by word of mouth only) Coastal Trail, beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.  We decided to meet there again on Sundays, at least for awhile.  Join us if you wish, keep social distancing in mind and bring a mask.  By combining a walk or run with an essential trip for groceries or to pick up a meal to go, I think, is a way to drive a short distance, for locals at least.

County Shelter in Place Order, pertinent section here:

Allowed: "To engage in outdoor activity, such as walking, jogging, hiking or biking, initiated from one’s residence, which does not involve the use of a motor vehicle or public transit to the location of exercise, such as for example, within walking, jogging, hiking, or biking distance of your place of residence only, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined in this Section."

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN AND WALK @ 7:30 A.M.,   for now, we're starting behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station and using the Coastal Trail - Middle access on Tuesdays.  On Thursdays, we are starting at Harvest Market at Mendosa's, Mendocino.
