The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

Covid 19, 3

We've made it through another week of Shelter In Place.  Our county is doing so good, still just 4 cases and they all have recovered!

John enjoyed his run from home and sent a few pictures and a poem.  Happy Easter!  And clearly, it's Spring time.

A poem from John.

Easter is coming...
No Easter egg hunts, no picnics, no family gatherings, and ham.
No Church services, no flowers, just TV and spam.
Not a jelly bean, or colored egg, or Easter Bunny to be seen.
Just a quick trip to the store, a mask, and some alcohol to clean.

Tom and Nancy ran and walked around town.  We were in the "Knob Hill" neighborhood, up around Cotton Auditorium.  The early morning stillness made the whole neighborhood smell really good.  I don't know all the flowers but there were jasmine, wisteria, honeysuckle to name a few, a the smell was powerful and nice!

Toni and Joe walked the Gibney Lane trail.  She took this selfie and said it was awful.  She does look a little strained, maybe needs a longer arm.

Fran walked in her area and sent some interesting pictures:

Nice home with ocean view

These people might like baseball.  Thanks Fran.
Because of the Shelter In Place ordinance, we've changed the Tuesday/Thursday Group Run a bit.  A new time and starting place and you can read about it below.

NEXT SUNDAY, 4/19,  On Thursday the 16th, the Mid-week Fog Dodgers used the recently opened (by word of mouth only) Coastal Trail, beginning behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station.  We decided to meet there again on Sunday the 19th.  Join us if you wish, keep social distancing in mind and bring a mask.  By combining a walk or run with an essential trip for groceries or to pick up a meal to go, I think, is a way to drive a short distance, for locals at least.

County Shelter in Place Order, pertinent section here:

Allowed: "To engage in outdoor activity, such as walking, jogging, hiking or biking, initiated from one’s residence, which does not involve the use of a motor vehicle or public transit to the location of exercise, such as for example, within walking, jogging, hiking, or biking distance of your place of residence only, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined in this Section."

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, GROUP RUN AND WALK @ 7:30 A.M.,   for now, we're starting behind the Fort Bragg Fire Station and using the Coastal Trail - Middle access on Tuesdays.  On Thursdays, we are starting at Harvest Market at Mendosa's, Mendocino.
