The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

NAVARRO RIDGE

Given a light drizzle a goodly number of fogdodgers congregated at NAVARRO RIDGE today. At the start of the walk it was pretty dry but by the time we got back to the grange it was sprinkling. Hiking were Diana, Jeff, John, Beth, Bob, Nancy, Tom, Joe, Fran, Jean, Eric, and Shari (12).

Afterwards ten of us enjoyed the blackberry topping on our pancakes at breakfast at the grange.

Jean asked me to add this info about a benefit pancake breakfast she is proposing we attend next Sunday:

"The free pancake breakfast is being provided by the Ordinary Radicals, the youth group from Mendocino Presbyterian Church. They are looking to fund their mission trip to Puerto Rico in the spring. While this is a free breakfast I strongly encourage donating generously to the group. I remember enjoying last year’s blueberry pancake breakfast and I assume it will be the same this year."

GLASS BEACH

A good sized groups of Fogdodgers met in the parking lot of GLASS BEACH this morning in cool wind and a light drizzle. It looks like the stand of broom to the right of the trial near the parking lot is getting cleared out. We'll see if the this holds the broom at bay. We all walked south on the Coastal Trail. Hiking were Shari, Diana and Jeff (good to have them back), Charlene, Deb, Sam, Dave and Chris, Kelly, Eric, Nancy, Tom, Kim, Doug, and Bowie, and Joe.

Afterwards several of us went to Denny's for breakfast and Beth and Bob (17) joined the group as they had come a little late and did not walk.

SOUTH HARBOR

A small group of fogdodgers congregated in the parking lot on the south side of Noyo Harbor this morning in some rather cold weather. We walked the usual route up the Noyo thru Dolphin Isle. Hiking were Nancy, Tom, Frank, Eric, Fran, Jean, Charlene, Toni, Joe, and, a bit later, Beth and Bob (11). It was a sunny morning with frost on the grasses in some areas.

Afterwards eight of us ate breakfast at the Home Style Cafe. The Home Style is not the most economical place for breakfast if you are ordering a small meal.

BEACHCOMBER MOTEL

We tried a new location this time at the parking lot just north of the BEACHCOMBER MOTEL. It was raining lightly so turnout was a bit low. Hiking were Nancy, Tom, Eric, John, Joe, Deb, Sam, Charlene, Kim, Doug (10), and Bowie. We hiked north from the Beachcomber parking lot and thus got a little bit further than when we had been starting at the south end of the Pudding Creek Trestle.

Afterwards seven of us went to Denny's for breakfast. It seems as though more of us are ordering salmon for breakfast these days.
