The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

Though Memorial Day weekend offered alternate activity choices, a decent number of Fogdodgers showed up to hike the MENDOCINO HEADLANDS. Sam's older MG sports car offer a contrast with my '23 Bolt parked next to it. Anyway hiking were Nancy and Tom (briefly as Tom is still recovering), Mary and Drew (nice to see them again), Pat (also good to see again) Deb, Sam, Diana, Jeff, Shari, John, Charlene, Beth, Bob, Kim, Doug, Jean, Fran, Joe and, joining us near the start, Sky. The weather was perfect, temperature in the fifties, sunny skies, very light winds, the tourists not yet too active....

Afterwards a large group, eleven I think, went to the Presbyterian church for their FREE pancake breakfast.

It was a reasonably windy morning at GLASS BEACH this morning, cool and pleasant. Hikers were Eric, Diana, Jeff, Fran, Jean, Sky, John, Charlene and Joe and Nancy and Tom started out with us. Tom is doing quite well in his recovery. As usual we all went south from the parking lot along the coastal trail, though maybe in the future we could try going north initially along the bluff trails up to the Pudding Creek Trestle. John and others saw a bald eagle on the hike (see below).

After the walk seven of us went to Denny's for breakfast. As it turns out none of the 500 dirt bike riders from the Bay Area were there at Denny's, so it was not crowded.

At RUSSIAN GULCH the weather was foggy and cool, quite comfortable after the recent hot weather. Nancy drove Tom out to greet us all after his successful surgery. Yea! Though he couldn't yet hike with us, he seeming in pretty good shape. So, for the hike, that left Eric, Mark, Jean, John, Sky, Charlene, Deb, Sam, Shari and Joe, with Bob running. Fran then joined the group a bit later. In the aftermath of all the rain we've been having the vegetation was thick on both sides of the trail and it looked like several trees had recently fallen at the point where most of us were turning around. Though the trees weren't blocking the trail, they formed almost a roof structure over the path.

Afterwards a large contingent, about eight I think, went to St Anthony's for their pancake breakfast. This time they had strawberries to go along with pancakes and french toast.

It was a beautiful day on the Mendocino Headlands. The rain let up and the sun was out without much wind. Several Fogdodgers couldn't make it for various reasons (best wishes to Tom). Hiking were Shari and her son, Ben, Eric, Charlene, Jean, Fran, John, Joe and, joining a little late, Sky.

Four of us had breakfast at the Good Life Cafe, which was not too crowded, for a change.
