POMO BLUFFS

The rain let up for our morning walk at POMO BLUFFS. It was pretty cool. Some of us hiked south while others hiked north. In attendance were Tom, Eric, Charlene, Cindy, Deb, Sam, Fran, Jean, Shari, Joe, and a newcomer, Kelly. When we got back to out cars Shari spotted a whale crossing the Noyo's outflow.

Afterwards a group went to Denny's for breakfast, same place as last week, but at least one went to the Caspar Community Center for their last breakfast of the year.

 Sadly John was not with us this time so I don't have any photos to include.

PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE

This Sunday we hiked at the PUDDING CREEK TRESTLE. Rain threatened, but was very light. Hiking were Eric, Deb, Sam, John, Kim, Doug and Bowie, Bob (who ran south), Tom, Charlene, Diana, Jeff, Fran with friend Sue Arnold, Jean (good to have her back), Sky, Beth, Bob and Joe

As one might expect a large group went to breakfast at Denny's, where we were joined by newcomer Blanche. The salmon dinner is now one of the more popular choices for breakfast.

MENDOCINO HEADLANDS

Today we hiked the MENDOCINO HEADLANDS. The traffic was light so we pretty much took over the road, only occasionally allowing cars to pass. The group did get strung out into subgroups which ended up taking different routes before converging on Toilet Point. There was a pretty large turnout for the walk: Diana, Jeff, Eric, Tom, Deb, Sam, Sky, John, Joe, Charlene, Shari, Beth, Bob, Fran, Kim, Doug and Bowie.

After the walk our group ate at Saint Anthony's where we were joined by Jean, making a group of ten.

SOUTH HARBOR

This time we did the walk at SOUTH HARBOR. Hiking were John, Eric, Tom, Mark, Charlene, Joe, Sky, Diana, Jeff, Fran, Beth and Bob. Pleasant weather with a sunny sky improved by having just switched from Daylight Savings. The south side of the Noyo is in shade for much of the route but we did make it around the bend to the trailer camping area where the sun was shining.

Denny's was the restaurant of choice this time with seven of us sharing the corner booth.

NAVARRO RIDGE

We few. We lucky few. We band of sisters and brothers. A small but stalwart division of the Fogdodgers assembled shortly after dawn at the Whitesboro Grange to brave the tempest this morning. In spite of blustery winds and driving rain Deb, Sam, Beth, Bob, Eric, Tom and Joe fought our way up the Navarro Ridge Road while dodging cars instead of fog.

Afterwards I believe the majority attended the pancake breakfast, this time a benefit for the fire department I think. I had to duck out early for a Noyo Center pelagic boat trip where we saw whales in abundance.

John did send a few photos from Navarro Ridge for the blog. He is visiting his sister in Colfax.

GLASS BEACH

This seems like the perfect time of year for our walking group - clear and cool. A sizeable number of Fogdodgers successfully dodged the fog at GLASS BEACH. Hiking were Christine, Shari, Kim, Doug, and Bowie, Mark, Deb, Sam, Diana, Jeff, Beth, Bob, and Bruce, Joe, John, Sky, Tom. We all walked south along the Coastal Trail.

Lots of hikers went to Denny's for breakfast.

CASPAR LOGGING ROAD

We walked CASPAR LOGGING ROAD this Sunday. While it was pretty foggy along the coast it was pretty clear along the road we hiked, though some veered off the road choosing to walk through the woods. Hiking were: Shari, Mark, Hannah Leigh, Sky, Eric, Charlene, Joe, Deb, Sam, John, Beth, Bob, Fran, and Tom. The road does go uphill a bit, but at least coming back is down hill. It has been a long time since we took the other path that starts going down hill from the parking area. Maybe some of us might try that the next time.

It being the second Sunday of the month a group of ten of us ate breakfast at Saint Anthony's.

It was a beautiful morning at COASTAL TRAIL – MIDDLE with clear skies and distant views. This time the group wa large with extra visitors visiting family. Walkers were Nancy and Tom, with family Kevin and Shannon, Beth and Bob, with family Melinda and Cori, Doug, with Bowie, John, Eric, Shari, Sky, Charlene, Mark, Fran, with friend Sue, and Joe.

BIG RIVER

It was pleasant and cool this morning at BIG RIVER. The scene was enveloped in fog which did clear up during our walk. One annoyance was the state of the dirt road as trucks from the Jack Peters Bridge project have been driving out to the old quarry site and dumping their dirt loads, leaving the path lumpy, shall we say. However beyond the quarry the road was in good shape. Hiking were Kim, Doug, and Bowie, Sky, Charlene, John, Eric, Tom (again, no Nancy), Shari, Mark, Joe, Fran, Beth, and Bob.

After the walk the fog had lifted and six Fogdodgers went to the Good Life Cafe for breakfast.
