Mackerricher Sunrise by J. Loomis |
We violated Tom's one and only rule in that the starting time was slightly delayed, not because of negligence, but due to the singing of happy birthday and presentation of some very special baked goods from Gay's kitchen.
Everyone walked out to the point on the boardwalk. There we spotted a Western Gull, where we learned from the Audubon members in the group, that the Western Gull can be identified by the dark on it's back and the yellow beak with the red tip.
The question of the day. Where is the lagoon? Is Lake Cleone a misnomer?
Should it have been named
Mackerricher Lagoon?
Thanks John for the beautiful photos and talented work of art.
It was a day of learning for me, thanks to John, I now know that Pacific means
peaceful waters. Being from eastern Washington I had no idea. I never saw Pacific until was 12 years old.
Upon further research I learned it was named by Ferdinand Maggellan.
The water was calm that day.
Present today were John, Sam, Deb, Fran, Jean, Cindy, Barbara, Charlene, Joe, Gay, and Bob. Sorry if you were there and I missed getting your name.
Although sunny at the start the fog slipped in the last few minutes of the walk run to cool us down.
