OK, it was a nice day. A really nice day. We came home, and spent the rest of the day out in the yard. So now you get your report. Tom knows it's difficult to find good help, let alone inexpensive help, and it doesn't get a lot cheaper than this. Anyway, you should have been outside too, not reading email.

This morning there was a larger group, clearly gearing up for the Easter Egg Hunt next Sunday. Van Damme was a little squishy in places, but after getting past the smoke of a few early campfires, it was gorgeous as usual. Present were Fran, Charlene, Ron, Gay, Mark, Maddie, Scott, Kim, Bob, Melissa, John, Elaine, Deb, Sam, Brad and Johnny (16). Sam and Deb were our ambassadors to Whitesboro Grange this morning, so they still count. Five us had a good breakfast at Bayview Cafe.

NEXT SUNDAY, 4/4/1 (EASTER SUNDAY EASTER EGG HUNT): Jackson State Forest Road 450 (along the north side of Hare Creek) beginning on Simpson Lane. Go east on Simpson Lane 1.9 miles, where you'll see a large parking area and gate on left. The Easter Bunny's knee is good again, and he went shopping early for variously-shaped-chocolaty-and-sugary-things to stuff in plastic eggs. Remember too, kids are always fine, but this hunt was started for you deprived adults, so wear your big kid bonnet, bring your big kid basket, and get ready to act like the big kids that you really are.

TUESDAYS, 7 AM: RUSSIAN GULCH STATE PARK, beginning on Point Cabrillo Drive, 1/10 of a mile north of its south end.

THURSDAYS, 7 AM: VAN DAMME STATE PARK, beginning at the beach.

Another fine but small group today on the Caspar Logging Road trails. Present this morning were: John, Marc, Fran, Orah, Steve, Hector, Joel and Johnny (8). Afterwards, we all went our separate ways.

A lot of things are blooming, and so it was fitting that yesterday was the official first day of Spring. It was a pleasant 48 degrees at the start. Skies? I think that's where all the sprinkles were coming from, but at least the trails weren't flooded. Anyway, I hope everyone has set their clocks forward by now. Or you ran/raced yesterday in the Whale Run. Or, you're saving yourself for the Easter Egg Hunt....?

Also thanks to John, for this Special News Report, Fort Bragg 2010 Whale Run Competition Walk and Run:
With Nancy on a mean walking pace and Marc running very fast we had 2 winners in the group representing the Fog Dodgers.....With this "World Wide" Competition it was fierce challenges from out of town folks.....We had Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, Willits, just to name a few of the many participants and very fast runners and walkers.

Nancy walked record pace time amidst heavy competition. Marc struggled along to make a great showing in his age division. Bob got a "Bronze" for his record breaking run, and of all,

Laurie came it "Gold" for her record pace on the 10K!

A small group met this morning at Hare Creek. Perhaps small due to the time change or maybe the temperature. It was 35 degrees at the start but felt a little colder than that. The skies were clear and calm though, so it was a pretty Spring-like morning. Hare Creek was running well and looked beautiful.

Present this morning were: Rick, Bob, John, Melissa, Nancy B., Rick B., Laurie (arrived PST!), Joel, Fran, Nancy and Tom (11). Afterwards, four of us enjoyed breakfast at David's Restaurant in The Boatyard Center.

NEXT SUNDAY, 3/21/10, 8:00 A.M.: CASPAR LOGGING ROAD, JSF RD. 500, beginning at the junction of JSF Road 500 and 600, about 2 miles east of Hwy. One. Go east on Fern Creek Rd. (where the duck pond is), 1/4 mile, turn right and go 1/4 mile, turn left on Caspar Orchard Road, go about 3/4 mile til it merges with Rd. 500 at the junction with Rd. 600.
