The Fog Dodgers invite all residents and visitors of the Mendocino Coast to join us on our weekly group runs and walks. We have runners and walkers of all abilities (and even some bikers) and we have only one "rule" - we start at exactly 8:00 a.m. on Sundays. Exercise at your own pace (1/2 hour out, 1/2 hour back) and experience the fresh Mendocino coastal air.

Fog Dodgers provides a fun, safe way to explore some of our local trails and back roads and to meet new friends. You can find out where we're going to be by reading the bottom of last week's post, then clicking on the "Our Routes" tab above. We average 15-20 persons each Sunday and typically half will go to breakfast together afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

NAVARRO RIDGE ROAD

We all had a very nice walk along the road on Navarro Ridge. Beautiful weather and great views off into the distance. Very little wind. Hikers were Nancy, Tom, Eric, Beth, Bob, Jean, John, Joe, Sky, Diana, Jeff and Weston. Deb and Sam showed up briefly later at the Whitesborough Grange.

Contrary to the weather prediction there was only mild wind at WARD AVENUE. It was sunny and just a little cool. There had been some talk about going north from the Ward Avenue parking lot, but everyone still went south. Maybe we can walk north the next time, though this will entail walking on sand which is a lot harder. Anyway there was a decent sized group on Sunday: Mark and his friend, a new hiker, Hannah Lee, Nancy, Tom, John, Joe, Deb, Sam, Eric, Kim, Doug and Bowie, Charlene, Cindy, Jean, and Sky.

So, as might be expected for a Ward Avenue walk, a group went to Denny's for breakfast. I think there were nine of us.

John got some nice photos:

I saw this post on the announce list: [MCN-Announce]- Cops in Cleone "Enforcing the speed trap.  New hiding place just north of Roger’s on the east side of the street." so watch your speed when going to Ward Avenue next Sunday.

It was a risk to select BIG RIVER for a hike and there were a decent number of mosquitos pestering us. Nevertheless is was a beautiful day. The main road to the parking lot is starting to break down again, but the road beyond the gate has been significantly improved. THe quarry area has been leveled and graded. Tom is doing much better and was able to walk the whole time. Other hikers were Charlene, Fran, Beth, Bob, John, Nancy, Eric, Jean, Diana, Jeff, Mark, Sky and Joe, with Bob running with Diana and Jeff's dog.

Afterwards about nine of us went to St Anthony's for their pancake breakfast. St Anthony's was very busy this time.

Sunday, June 2, 2024

It was a foggy morning for a walk at POMO BLUFFS. Fifteen Fogdodgers showed up: John, Joe, Deb, Sam, Eric, Nancy, Tom, Cindy, Charlene, Diana, Jeff, Mark, Beth, Bob, and Oliver, their grandson. Along the way we ran into Kim and Doug and, a real surprise, Cheryl and Neil, Fogdodgers from a few years ago.

Afterwards a group of thirteen of us descended on Denny's for breakfast.

John did provide some photos:
